Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan’s Address on Constitution Day 2025

Vice President of India addresses the Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) commemoration function at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan.

New Delhi, India, November 28, 2025

The Vice-President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, delivered a discourse at the Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) commemoration event held at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan. He stated that since 2015, November 26 has been designated Constitution Day, a meaningful occasion for all citizens of the nation.

Shri Radhakrishnan acknowledged the invaluable contributions of prominent leaders, including Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Dr. Rajendra Prasad, in the formation of a Constitution that encapsulates the essence of the nation. He emphasized that the Constitution is a testament to the collective wisdom and sacrifices of those who fought for independence, establishing the bedrock for Bharat to emerge as the world’s largest democracy.

The Vice-President highlighted India’s commendable progress across various developmental indices, noting its ascension to the fourth-largest economy and the successful alleviation of 25 crore individuals from poverty over the past decade. He reaffirmed that Bharat has a rich historical legacy of democratic practices, underscoring the need for active citizen engagement in the democratic process.

In paying homage to the women members of the Constituent Assembly, Shri Radhakrishnan referenced the enactment of the Nari Shakti Vandhan Adhiniyam in 2023, which aims to enhance equal opportunities for women. He also recognized the significant contributions of tribal communities during the freedom movement and emphasized the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas to honor these contributions.

He reiterated the Constitution’s commitment to social justice and economic empowerment for marginalized groups, asserting that its foundational principles guarantee equality for all citizens. Furthermore, he advocated essential reforms to the electoral, judicial, and financial systems to respond effectively to the evolving global landscape.

In conclusion, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan urged all citizens to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and actively contribute to establishing a stronger, inclusive, and prosperous Viksit Bharat by 2047.
