UGC Directs Vice-Chancellors to Observe Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

Universities Must Stay Vigilant: UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all universities in India to observe Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 from October 27 to November 2, 2025.

In its communication to Vice Chancellors, the UGC emphasized that this observance should not be limited to university campuses but should also encompass all affiliated colleges and institutions. This initiative aligns with the Central Vigilance Commission’s (CVC) nationwide campaign, which aims to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life.

The theme for this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week is “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” The UGC has urged universities to organize various awareness programs, such as integrity pledges, debates, essay competitions, workshops, and outreach activities. These initiatives aim to reinforce the importance of ethical conduct among students, faculty, and staff.

By urging academic institutions to lead by example, the UGC highlights the vital role of higher education in cultivating responsible citizens and promoting a culture free from corruption throughout the nation.

Compliance Report

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed universities to prepare and submit a compliance report on Preventive Vigilance Measures and activities related to Vigilance Awareness Week to the Central Vigilance Commission. Furthermore, they are required to upload this report onto the UGC’s University Activity Monitoring Portal by November 30, 2025.
