Panjab University Launches Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with Integrity Pledge by the Registrar
Chandigarh, India, October 30, 2025 — Panjab University, Chandigarh, has officially commenced Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2025 with a strong message of ethical commitment. The week-long observance began with the Registrar taking the integrity pledge and administering it to the university’s non-teaching staff, setting the tone for a series of impactful activities.
Joining the Registrar in this ceremonial pledge were the Chief Vigilance Officer, Controller of Examinations, and Finance and Development Officer— underscoring the university’s collective dedication to honesty, transparency, and ethical governance.
Theme and Objectives
VAW 2025, observed from October 27 to November 2 in accordance with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines, carries the theme: “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” The initiative aims to foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency across all levels of the university community—staff, faculty, and students alike.
Campus-Wide Engagement
Throughout the week, departments, centers, and institutes across Panjab University will host a variety of events designed to engage and educate:
- Integrity Pledge Ceremonies for students, faculty, and researchers
- Extension Lectures and Interactive Sessions on ethical conduct and vigilance
- Workshops, Seminars, and Webinars focused on preventive vigilance and institutional policies
These activities are crafted to reinforce the idea that vigilance is not just a regulatory requirement but a shared social and institutional responsibility.
Creative and Community-Focused Events
To broaden participation and raise awareness in dynamic ways, the university will also organize:
- Competitions: Debates, quizzes, essay and slogan writing, poster and cartoon-making
- Public Engagements: Walkathons, marathons, cyclothons, and street plays centered on anti-corruption themes
These events are open to students, employees, and their families, encouraging a community-wide embrace of ethical values.
Reporting and Accountability
- The Chief Vigilance Officer has requested that all officials and department heads submit detailed compliance reports documenting their VAW activities. These reports, accompanied by photographs, should be sent to the university’s Vigilance Cell.
- The collected documentation will form the basis of a comprehensive report to be submitted to both the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the University Grants Commission (UGC), reflecting Panjab University’s active role in promoting ethical governance.
