LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the winners of the 52nd Student Academy Awards® competition, recognizing 14 students for their outstanding work. This year, the competition received a total of 3,127 entries from 988 colleges and universities worldwide. The 2025 winners now join the ranks of esteemed past recipients of the Student Academy Award®, including Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Spike Lee, Patricia Riggen, and Robert Zemeckis.
The presentation ceremony for the annual International Student Film Awards will take place on Monday, October 6, at 6:00 p.m. ET. This year, the event will take place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City, as part of the New York Film Festival, in partnership with Rolex.

- Students from various prestigious institutions have achieved honors for the first time, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication. Notable among these are the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, renowned for its rigorous academic standards; Gobelins in Paris France, famous for its excellence in animation; the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Poland, which boasts a rich tradition of cinematic arts; the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in Slovakia, recognized for its vibrant arts community; the London College of Communication in United Kingdom, known for its innovative approach to media; and the University of the West of England in Bristol United Kingdom, celebrated for its creative programs. These institutions take pride in celebrating their students’ remarkable achievements in their respective fields.
Gold, silver, and bronze awards will be presented in four categories during the ceremony. Additionally, winners will enjoy a comprehensive weekend filled with educational programs, networking opportunities, and exclusive access to Academy members, all designed to support their career advancement.
All films that have won a Student Academy Award will be eligible to compete for the 98th Oscars in the categories of Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, or Documentary Short Film. In the past, these winners have received a total of 69 Oscar nominations and have won or shared 15 awards.
The Student Academy Awards were established in 1972 to provide a platform for emerging global talent, offering opportunities within the industry to showcase their work.
