New Delhi, August 26, 2025 — Taking significant steps towards achieving Aatmanirbhar in green energy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the green mobility initiatives in Hansalpur, Gujarat, today.

During his address to the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted that amidst the festive spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi, a new chapter is being added to the “Make in India” initiative. He stated that this represents a significant advancement towards the shared objective of “Make in India, Make for the World.” Mr. Modi announced that starting today, electric vehicles manufactured in India will be exported to 100 countries. Additionally, he revealed the launch of Hybrid Battery Electrode manufacturing in the country. Emphasizing that this occasion also strengthens the friendship between India and Japan, the Prime Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to all citizens of India, the people of Japan, and Suzuki Motor Corporation.

The Prime Minister announced that he will be visiting Japan next week, emphasizing that the relationship between India and Japan goes far beyond diplomatic ties; it is deeply rooted in culture and mutual trust. He remarked that both nations view their own progress through the lens of each other’s development. Noting that the journey, which began with Maruti Suzuki, has now reached the speed of a bullet train, Mr. Modi highlighted that significant initiatives to realize the industrial potential of the India-Japan partnership commenced in Gujarat. Reflecting on the past, the Prime Minister recalled that when the Vibrant Gujarat Summit was launched 20 years ago, Japan was a key partner. Furthermore, Mr. Modi pointed out that colleges and universities in India are now prioritizing education in the Japanese language.

In a remarkable showcase of the Make in India initiative’s success, the Prime Minister proudly inaugurated and launched the “e VITARA,” making it Suzuki’s first global strategic Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). This innovative vehicle, designed and manufactured in India, will be exported to over 100 countries worldwide, including key markets such as Europe and Japan. This significant achievement establishes India as Suzuki’s key global manufacturing hub for electric vehicles, reflecting the country’s growing prowess in advanced automotive technology and sustainable transportation solutions.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the next phase of India’s battery ecosystem with the launch of local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant in Gujarat. This plant is a joint venture among Toshiba, Denso, and Suzuki, aiming to enhance domestic manufacturing and promote clean energy innovation. As a result of this development, more than eighty percent of the battery’s value will now be produced within India.
