Governors, including the board-elected governors-at-large, can serve for a maximum of two consecutive or non-consecutive three-year terms. After completing these terms, they must take a two-year hiatus before becoming eligible to serve for up to two additional three-year terms.

The Board of Governors establishes the Academy’s strategic vision, maintains the organization’s financial health, and ensures the fulfillment of its mission.

  • The Academy invites artists and executives from underrepresented communities worldwide to apply for membership.

Meanwhile, the Academy has invited a diverse group of artists and executives from underrepresented communities, cultures, languages, and regions across 60 countries outside the United States to apply for membership. This initiative aims to promote inclusion and representation within the Academy, thereby enriching its diversity with a broader range of voices and perspectives.

The Branch Executive Committees will evaluate the applications submitted by invited candidates. Following this, the Academy’s Board of Governors will review and approve the recommendations made by the committees. Additionally, each application must be endorsed by two individuals who are already members of the Academy.
