New Delhi, India, June 18, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Outreach Session of the G7 Summit held in Kananaskis today. He addressed a session titled “Energy Security: Diversification, Technology, and Infrastructure to Ensure Access and Affordability in a Changing World.” During his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Canada, H.E. Mr. Mark Carney, for the invitation and congratulated the G7 on celebrating 50 years of its existence.

In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that energy security is one of the significant challenges facing future generations. He elaborated on India’s commitment to inclusive growth, stating that the principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability are foundational to India’s approach to energy security. He further highlighted that, despite being the fastest-growing major economy in the world, India has successfully met its Paris Agreement commitments ahead of schedule.

In his call for a sustainable and green future, he underscored India’s involvement in several global initiatives, including the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, the Global Biofuels Alliance, Mission Life, and One Sun–One World–One Grid. He urged the international community to strengthen these initiatives further.

The Prime Minister stated that the uncertainty and conflicts in various parts of the world have significantly impacted countries in the Global South. He emphasized that India has taken on the responsibility of amplifying the voice of the Global South on the world stage. He highlighted the importance of the international community understanding the priorities and concerns of these nations if they are serious about achieving a sustainable future. Additionally, he addressed security challenges and urged countries to strengthen their collective fight against terrorism.

The Prime Minister discussed the connection between technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and energy. He highlighted that while AI has become an essential tool for promoting efficiency and innovation, it is also energy-intensive. Therefore, it is crucial to develop strategies that make AI sustainable through clean and green initiatives.

He elaborated on India’s human-centric approach to technology, emphasizing that for any technology to be effective, it must add value to the lives of ordinary people. The Prime Minister stressed that a technology-driven world requires closer cooperation among countries to achieve a sustainable future. To realize this goal, both people and the planet must be at the center of progress.
