USPS Celebrates Launch of American Flag Stamp

The U.S. Postal Service has released its latest stamp featuring the U.S. flag.

THREE OAKS, Mich., June 9, 2025 — The U.S. Postal Service held a ceremony to dedicate a new U.S. Flag stamp at the Vickers Theater in Three Oaks.

“The flag of the United States is a lasting symbol of freedom, national unity, and patriotic spirit. It has proudly flown not only across the country but also abroad and even on the surface of the moon,” stated Donald Dombrow Jr., the Postal Service’s Michigan 2 District Manager, during the ceremony.

Other speakers included photographer Doug Haight, whose artwork is prominently featured on the stamp.

The current American flag features 13 alternating horizontal stripes — seven red and six white — along with 50 stars on a blue field. The stripes symbolize the 13 colonies that declared independence from Great Britain and became the first states of the nation. The stars represent the total number of states today.

The stamp displays an image of Old Glory waving in the breeze, set against a bright white background. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are written in blue above a horizontal red stripe. At the bottom of the stamp, “FOREVER/USA” is inscribed in gray lettering.

Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the stamp. It will be issued in booklets and panes of 20, as well as in coils of 100, 3,000, and 10,000. As Forever stamps, these will always be valued at the current First-Class Mail rate of 1 ounce.
