Fortune announces the 2025 Fortune 500 USA Companies List.
Walmart, Amazon, and UnitedHealth Group are the top three companies on the 71st annual Fortune 500 list. Women now lead 11% of Fortune 500 companies, with a record high of 55 female CEOs.
NEW YORK, June 3, 2025 — Today, Fortune announced the release of the Fortune 500™ ranking for 2025, marking the 71st edition of this prestigious annual list. The ranking evaluates the largest corporations in the United States based on their revenue for the fiscal year 2024.
Walmart has maintained its position at the top of the Fortune 500 list for the thirteenth consecutive year, accumulating over $7 trillion in cumulative revenue during this period. Amazon, UnitedHealth Group, Apple, and CVS Health follow it. The ten leading companies on the Fortune 500 list collectively generated over $290 billion in annual revenue, resulting in a combined total of $4.2 trillion.
Fortune 500 companies account for two-thirds of the U.S. GDP, generating $19.9 trillion in revenue (a 6% increase), $1.87 trillion in profits (a 9% increase), and holding a market value of $46 trillion (a 7% increase). These companies employ 31 million people worldwide. The revenue threshold for making the 2025 Fortune 500 list is set at $7.4 billion this year, which marks a 4% increase from the previous year.

This year, the representation of female CEOs reached a new milestone, with 55 women leading Fortune 500 companies. It marks the highest percentage in the list’s history at 11%. Notable leaders include Mary Barra of General Motors (ranked No. 18), who also topped Fortune’s list of the 100 Most Powerful Women this year; Jane Fraser of Citigroup (No. 21); Carol Tomé of UPS (No. 47); Thasunda Brown Duckett of TIAA (No. 98); and Corie Barry of Best Buy (No. 108).
This year’s list features companies based in 225 cities across 37 states. New York City leads with 43 companies, followed by Houston with 24, Chicago with 15, Atlanta with 13, and Dallas with 9. California added one new Fortune 500 company this year, maintaining its position as the state with the highest number of Fortune 500 companies at 58 for the second consecutive year. Texas is in second place with 54 companies, followed closely by New York, which has 53.
