USPS Honors 250 Years of Military with Commemorative Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service has unveiled commemorative stamps celebrating the 250th anniversaries of the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.

WASHINGTON, May 16, 2025 — The U.S. Postal Service is celebrating the release of three individual commemorative stamps that honor the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marine Corps. Each stamp pays tribute to these essential branches of the nation’s defense, acknowledging their shared origins in the American Revolutionary War.

“These stamps serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy and steadfast dedication of the women and men who have built and sustained the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps for the past 250 years,” said Jeffery Adams, vice president of corporate communications for the USPS. “As we commemorate this significant milestone, we honor their courage, commitment, and vital role in safeguarding the freedoms we cherish.”

Adams served as the dedicating official at a ceremony held on May 16 at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C. Joining him at the ceremony were Lora McLucas, the master of ceremonies and USPS Maryland district manager; Lt. Gen. Gregory Brady, the inspector general of the U.S. Army; Vice Adm. Mike Boyle, the staff director of the U.S. Navy; Lt. Gen. Paul Rock Jr., the staff director of the U.S. Marine Corps; and Martin Mieras, a USPS military programs specialist and retired U.S. Army command sergeant major.

Born from the necessity to secure American independence, the three branches trace their foundational roots to 1775. Today, these forces are powerful symbols of strength and resilience, embodying core values such as loyalty, duty, honor, and courage.

The Postal Service will issue stamps featuring the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps symbols on a white background, available in panes of 20.

Forever stamps always retain a value equal to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce rate.
