According to the Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister of India), Operation Sindoor is a military action symbolizing India’s political, social, and strategic willpower.
New Delhi, India, May 11, 2025 — “Operation Sindoor was more than a military action; it symbolized India’s political and strategic resolve,” stated Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh during his virtual address at the inauguration of the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow on May 11, 2025. He described the operation as a testament to India’s commitment to combat terrorism and the determination of the Armed Forces to bring justice to families affected by terrorist acts on Indian soil.
At the inauguration of the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre, the Defence Minister emphasized that it will bolster India’s self-reliance in defense and drive socio-economic development by creating significant employment opportunities. He described the event on National Technology Day as a key moment, highlighting India’s growing innovation and alignment with global advancements in cutting-edge technologies.
Shri Rajnath Singh described BrahMos as one of the fastest supersonic cruise missiles and a symbol of the strength of the Indian Armed Forces. He highlighted its role as a deterrent to adversaries and its representation of advanced defense collaboration between India and Russia.
Quoting Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the Missile Man of India, the Raksha Mantri stated, “Unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. Only strength respects strength.” He affirmed that India is a mighty nation and that the government will continue to enhance its strength.
At the inauguration, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh for establishing Lucknow as a defence manufacturing hub. He noted that the facility will boost the Make in India initiative, promote self-reliance, and attract investment in the sector.
The Chief Minister praised Operation Sindoor as a message to the world that India no longer tolerates terrorism. He stated that there can be no solution to terrorism other than its complete eradication.
The 200-acre BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Center in Lucknow will focus on integrating booster subassemblies, avionics, propellants, and ramjet engines, along with providing a program center for design and administration.
