The Uttar Pradesh government has previously issued an ‘Authorization Letter’ to Chandigarh University to establish its AI-integrated campus in Unnao, Lucknow.
During a press conference at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uttar Pradesh’s Higher Education Minister, Yogendra Upadhyay, launched the Chandigarh University Lucknow web portal and unveiled the 2025-26 academic session prospectus. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Satnam Singh Sandhu, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor of Chandigarh University; Mukesh Jain, Executive Vice President of Capgemini; Prof. Himani Sood, Pro-Chancellor of CU; and Jai Inder Singh Sandhu, Managing Director of CU.
Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has become a key driver of the nation’s development.
He mentioned that Uttar Pradesh is on track to become a USD 1 trillion economy within the next five years, with the state’s GDP projected to reach Rs 32 lakh crore by March 2025. This positions Uttar Pradesh as the fastest-growing economy in India and is expected to create employment opportunities for 1.5 crore youth. Over the past seven years, the state’s economy, GDP, and per capita income have more than doubled, thanks to the efforts of the double-engine government.
Upadhyay stated that Uttar Pradesh is becoming a prominent educational hub in higher education. Over the past seven years, 16 new universities and over 250 colleges have been established in underserved regions, all under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“It is a proud moment for us that Chandigarh University has established its AI-enabled campus in Uttar Pradesh. The timing of launching an AI-integrated university here is perfect, as the state government is also creating India’s first AI City, which will span over 70 acres in Lucknow. The government has allocated ₹500 crore for computing infrastructure, including 10,000 GPUs and an AI center in Lucknow. The initial phase of the AI City project has already attracted preliminary commitments of ₹2,500 crore from private technology companies and venture capital firms. Funding for local startups in the AI and deep-tech sectors has increased by an impressive 40 percent over the past 18 months, reflecting strong investor confidence in AI. As a hub for the AI ecosystem, the AI City in Lucknow is expected to create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs in AI for the youth over the next five years,” the Minister said.
Upadhyay stated that Chandigarh University’s AI-integrated campus aligns perfectly with the Uttar Pradesh government’s ambitions for growth driven by artificial intelligence as it prepares a skilled workforce.
He added, “The arrival of a world-class education provider like Chandigarh University means that students in Uttar Pradesh can now access quality education without having to leave their home state, making learning more accessible and affordable for everyone.”
Member of Parliament Satnam Singh Sandhu stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognizes the transformative power of artificial intelligence. India was among the first countries to develop a comprehensive strategy through the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Chandigarh University Lucknow is dedicated to realizing our Prime Minister’s vision to make India a global leader in artificial intelligence.”
