Importance of Integrity: Messages from President, Vice-President, and Prime Minister

New Delhi, India, October 28, 2024 — The President, Vice President, and Prime Minister of India have released messages in observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024, from October 28 to November 3, 2024. This year’s theme, “Culture of Integrity for the Nation’s Prosperity,” underscores the importance of ethical conduct in governance.

Vigilance Awareness Week is a crucial element of the Participatory Vigilance initiatives implemented by the Central Vigilance Commission to combat corruption. Corruption is defined as dishonesty or a criminal offense perpetrated by individuals or organizations in positions of authority. This practice involves the acquisition of illicit advantages or the misuse of power for personal gain.

This week aims to raise awareness and engage all stakeholders, including the public, in discussions about ethics and transparency in governance and public administration. It encourages greater sensitivity to these critical issues. The Commission seeks to promote integrity and eliminate criminality with all citizens’ active support and participation. Over the past three years, a campaign has been organized leading up to this week, focusing on initiatives for preventive vigilance.
