The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences proudly recognized the student winners from colleges and universities around the globe during the 51st Student Academy Awards ceremony, which was held on October 14 in London.

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 16, 2024 — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored student winners from colleges and universities worldwide at the 51st Student Academy Awards ceremony tonight.
In partnership with Rolex, the Academy announced the Gold, Silver, and Bronze placements and presented trophies during a ceremony held at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London.
This year, the Student Academy Awards competition received 2,683 entries from 738 colleges and universities worldwide. The evening featured remarks from Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang. Chris Sanders, the writer and director of “The Wild Robot,” and Jason Reitman, co-writer and director of “Saturday Night” and an Academy governor, presented the various categories.

All Student Academy Award-winning films are eligible to compete for the 97th Oscars in the Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, or Documentary Short Film category. The 2024 winners join past Student Academy Award winners such as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Spike Lee, Patricia Riggen, and Robert Zemeckis. Past winners have gone on to receive 67 Oscar nominations and have won or shared 15 awards.
Established in 1972, the Student Academy Awards provide a platform for emerging global talent by creating opportunities within the industry to showcase their work.
