UGC’s Latest Update: Ombudsperson Appointments in Chandigarh

The University Grants Commission (UGC) in India has identified universities failing to meet their obligations.

New Delhi, September 28, 2024: The University Grants Commission (UGC) in India has released the “Updated List” of “Defaulting Universities” that have not appointed Ombudsperson(s) as required by the University Grants Commission (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023.

The Union Territory (UT) of Chandigarh is home to three universities listed in the UGC records: Panjab University in Sector 14, Punjab Engineering College in Sector 12, and the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) in Sector 26.

Two universities from Chandigarh, UT, were featured in the previous Defaulting Universities List. However, they are not included in the Updated List of Defaulting Universities, indicating that all three universities in Chandigarh UT have complied with the relevant UGC regulations and have duly appointed Ombudsperson(s) as required.
