Chandigarh University: Revolutionizing Education in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW, India, Sept. 21, 2024 — The Uttar Pradesh government has approved Chandigarh University’s proposal to establish a new campus in Unnao, which is part of the State Capital Region (SCR) comprising Lucknow and five adjoining districts. Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay handed the authorization letter for the University’s establishment to Director Jai Inder Singh Sandhu in Lucknow.

Jai Inder Singh Sandhu, Director of Chandigarh University, announced that the first academic session at India’s first AI-integrated futuristic campus will start in 2025-26. The University, ranked among India’s top 20 in the NIRF Rankings 2024, will offer 45 futuristic courses in five different streams. These courses will provide both theoretical knowledge and real-world problem-solving applications.

“Our futuristic courses in engineering, business management, computer science engineering, health, applied sciences, and liberal arts at our Unnao Campus will nurture well-rounded individuals with a deep understanding of concepts and prepare them to be job seekers and job creators of tomorrow. The distinguished faculty at the Unnao Campus, comprising eminent scholars with doctorates and extensive industry experience, will enhance the student learning experience with their unparalleled expertise and passion for teaching,” he said.

Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Higher Education, Yogendra Upadhyay, stated that this decision will increase students’ access to high-quality education in Uttar Pradesh. He believes that the establishment of Chandigarh University will revolutionize higher education in the state.

“The establishment of Chandigarh University in Unnao will give students access to high-quality education and mark a new chapter in the state’s educational landscape. This state-of-the-art institution will drive increased competition and raise higher education standards, opening up better employment opportunities for the state’s youth,” the UP Higher Education Minister stated. “CU will equip students to compete on national and international stages, positioning itself as a key hub of higher education in Uttar Pradesh, poised to elevate students’ careers to new heights,” he added.

Jai Inder Singh Sandhu provided details about the courses offered at Chandigarh University’s new campus. In Engineering, the Unnao Campus of Chandigarh University will offer 16 courses, including bachelor’s and master’s programs in computer applications, information technology, computer science engineering, structural engineering, and construction technology and management.

Chandigarh University’s Unnao Campus will offer 14 graduate and postgraduate courses in business administration, applied finance, international accounting and finance, branding and advertising, fintech, business analytics, digital marketing, data science, and AI in Business Management.

Jai Inder Singh Sandhu announced that the Unnao Campus at Chandigarh University will offer six graduate and postgraduate courses in the health stream, including pharmacy, forensic science, physiotherapy, optometry, medical laboratory technology, and nutrition and dietetics. The Unnao Campus will also offer two graduate biotechnology and data science courses under the basic and applied sciences program.

He said CU will offer seven Liberal Arts courses, including bachelor’s degrees in psychology, liberal arts, law, journalism, mass communication, and education.

Chandigarh University, a leading institution for research and innovation in India, has filed over 2600 patents. This is the second-highest number of patents filed by any institution in India, demonstrating the University’s cutting-edge research facilities. These facilities include 32 Centers of Excellence (COEs) and 30 state-of-the-art research labs.

Chandigarh University is the first University in the country to establish 502 partnerships with top-ranked international universities in popular study-abroad destinations. This initiative aims to provide global exposure to its students and enhance their employment opportunities abroad.

The University’s new 100+ acre innovative campus is being developed in the recently announced Lucknow State Capital Region on the Lucknow-Kanpur Highway.
