WorldSkills Lyon 2024: Talented Winners, Long-lasting Legacy

LYON, France, Sept. 19, 2024 — The 47th WorldSkills Competition has officially ended after a week of intense competition. The event marked the conclusion of an exciting journey for 1,400 young professionals worldwide. Over four days, participants from nearly 70 countries and regions competed in 59 different skill areas, turning Lyon’s Eurexpo into a lively center of craftsmanship and international talent.

The atmosphere was electric from day one as competitors, with unwavering dedication and precision, displayed their expertise in manufacturing, engineering, fashion, digital technology, and healthcare sectors. Their high level of commitment throughout the week testified to their deep passion for their trades and their determination to showcase their nation’s value on the global stage.

Last night, the closing ceremony of WorldSkills Lyon 2024, held at Groupama Stadium, brought the event to an emotional close with the announcement of medalists in each skill category. Four medals were awarded in each skill: a Gold Medal, a Silver Medal, a Bronze Medal, and the Medallion for Excellence. This ceremony underscored the core belief of the WorldSkills movement: excellence is found in diversity—diversity of profiles, backgrounds, expertise, and techniques.

The impact of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 extends far beyond the event itself. It spotlighted the crucial role of vocational education and celebrated the incredible ability of youth to drive the change our world needs. This 47th edition has once again shown the world that where there is skill, there is a way.

India achieved great success at WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France. The Indian team won four bronze medals in Confectionery, Hotel Reception, and Renewable Energy. Furthermore, the Indian delegation received 12 Medallions of Excellence in various skills, including Mechatronics, Web Technology, Cabinet Making, Jewellery, Beauty Therapy, Automobile Technology, Cooking, Car Painting, Graphic Design Technology, Cyber Security (Team Skill), Water Technology, and Additive Manufacturing.

During WorldSkills Lyon 2024, over 1400 participants from more than 70 countries competed in various skill categories. Indian competitors demonstrated their talent and innovation, competing in 52 skills against countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Colombia, Denmark, France, the UK, South Africa, Switzerland, and the USA.
