- Important NAAC Announcement for All Higher Education Institutions in India.
The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has approved the recommendations of the Dr. Radhakrishnan Committee for extensive reforms in Accreditation.
Following these recommendations, the NAAC Executive Committee has developed an implementation plan that comprises two phases: Binary Accreditation and Maturity-based Graded Levels.
The Committee has proposed that measures be taken during the transitional period to facilitate the successful processing of pending applications under the existing Revised Accreditation Framework (RAF) and to ensure a seamless transition to the proposed reforms. To this end, the following resolutions have been formulated for execution:
- The Executive Committee of NAAC decided to accept IIQA applications using the current methodology (RAF) until June 30, 2024.
- Institutions with valid Accreditation according to the current RAF, whose validity is set to expire between July 1, 2024, and the launch date of Maturity Graded Levels (MBGL) will be extended for up to three months after the MBGL launch.
- Institutes/Universities that are already accredited will maintain their accreditation grade until it expires. During the valid accreditation period, these Universities/Colleges can apply for Maturity Based Graded Level (MBGL) as soon as it is announced.
- HEIs whose IIQA or SSR applications are under RAF have two options:
a. They may choose Binary Accreditation, where the ongoing A & A process under RAF will be closed.
b. They may continue the A & A process under the current RAF.
- HEIs that are not accredited can apply for Binary Accreditation when NAAC launches it.
