- The Defence Minister of India met with the U.S. National Security Advisor and engaged with leaders of the U.S. defense industry in Washington, D.C.
Washington, DC, August 24, 2024 — On August 23, 2024, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with the U.S. National Security Advisor, Mr. Jake Sullivan, at the White House in Washington, D.C. They discussed the developing geopolitical situation and important regional security issues. Additionally, they talked about the ongoing defense industrial collaboration projects between India and the U.S. and potential areas for the two countries’ industries to work together.

Rajnath Singh emphasized that India welcomes U.S. investment and technology collaboration. India is ready, with a skilled human resource base, a robust pro-FDI and pro-business ecosystem, and a large domestic market. India looks forward to closely working with the U.S. across the defense domains to build capability and for a lasting technology and industrial partnership that can address emerging challenges.
The Indian Defence Minister met with the senior leadership of U.S. defense companies in Washington DC during an industry round-table organized by the US India Strategic Partnership Forum. He discussed the emerging opportunities for co-development and co-production in India’s defense sector. The Government of India’s progressive reforms have encouraged foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers, including those from the U.S., to establish manufacturing units in India, form Joint Ventures, and use India as an alternate export base. The planned co-production of GE 414 aero-engines in India will be a significant milestone in India-US bilateral relations.
Senior leadership from prominent U.S. defense and technology companies attended the meeting, including Boeing, GE, General Atomics, General Dynamics Land Systems, L3 Harris, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, Rolls Royce, and Thayer Mahan. During the engagement, the business leaders concisely outlined their current projects and plans for India.
