India’s Defense Minister Visits USA for Strategic Partnership Talks

  • The Defense Minister of India has arrived in Washington on a four-day visit to the USA.

New Delhi / Washington, August 23, 2024: India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, arrived in Washington on August 22, 2024, for a four-day visit to the US.

Coinciding with Rajnath Singh’s arrival, senior defense officials from both sides signed two major agreements: the Security of Supplies Arrangement (SOSA) and the Memorandum of Agreement regarding the Assignment of Liaison Officers.

During his official visit to the United States, the Defense Minister is scheduled to engage in a bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of Defense, Mr. Lloyd Austin. Additionally, he will convene with the US Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, Mr. Jake Sullivan. Furthermore, he will preside over a high-level round-table meeting with key representatives from the US defense industry to deliberate on current and prospective defense collaborations. This visit is anticipated to enhance further and diversify the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
