Paris, August 8, 2024 — The Paris 2024 Olympians have elected four new members to the IOC Athletes’ Commission: Kim Bui from Germany, Marcus Daniell from New Zealand, Allyson Felix from the USA, and Jessica Fox from Australia. These athletes will serve an eight-year term, ending at the Olympic Games in Brisbane in 2032.

The new members’ role is to ensure the athletes’ voices are heard in the Olympic Movement’s decision-making processes. They will also support athletes throughout their careers, both on and off the field.

During the voting period, which took place between July 18 and August 6, 6,576 athletes participated in the elections, representing a participation rate of 61.96%, the highest since the London 2012 Summer Games.

The new IOC Athletes’ Commission members are:

  • Allyson Felix, USA – Five-time Olympian and multiple Olympic and world champion in athletics.
  • Kim Bui, Germany – Three-time Olympian in gymnastics, with several World Championships participations.
  • Jessica Fox, Australia – Four-time Olympian and Olympic champion in canoeing.
  • Marcus Daniell, New Zealand – Two-time Olympian and Olympic medalist in tennis.

The new members will join the Commission after the Paris 2024 Games and serve for eight years. The IOC Athletes’ Commission consists of a maximum of 23 members, 12 elected directly during the Olympic Summer and Winter Games, and up to 11 appointed members, ensuring a balance between genders, regions, and sports.

The 142nd Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) concluded its meeting in Paris with the election of four athletes as IOC Members.
