NASA Celebrates 55th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing

NASA to Commemorate 55th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing.

WASHINGTON, July 12, 2024 — The upcoming July 20, 2024, marks the 55th anniversary of the momentous Apollo 11 moon landing.

From July 15 to July 25, 2024, NASA will host in-person and virtual events to honor this historic achievement. These events will pay tribute to the vision and technological advancements that contributed to the successful execution of the Apollo 11 mission, culminating in humans landing on the Moon on July 20, 1969.

Furthermore, NASA will emphasize the enduring impact of the innovations and methodologies from the Apollo era that continue to shape contemporary society. Notably, the focus will also be on NASA’s Artemis campaign, which aims to achieve the milestone of landing the first woman, the first person of color, and the first international astronaut on the Moon. Through this campaign, NASA endeavors to inspire extraordinary accomplishments, advance exploration, and facilitate significant scientific discoveries for the collective benefit of humanity.
