US Congressional Delegation Meets PM Modi for India-US Relations Talks

New Delhi, June 20, 2024 — Today, a seven-member US Congressional delegation led by Rep. Michael McCaul, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The delegation included Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Gregory Meeks, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, Rep. Amerish Babulal “Ami Bera,” and Rep. Jim McGovern. They congratulated Prime Minister Modi on his historic third consecutive term election and expressed appreciation for the fairness and transparency of India’s recent democratic electoral process.

The delegation emphasized the importance of India—US relations and strongly supported further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Global Partnership in various areas such as trade, technology, defense, and people-to-people exchanges.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significant role played by the US Congress in advancing India-US ties based on shared democratic values and strong people-to-people ties. He also reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations for the global good. He recalled his State Visit to the US in June last year, where he addressed a Joint Session of the US Congress for the second time in history.
